Water Tank Cleaning

Macao Water's water quality meets the European drinking water standards and is maintained throughout the entire water distribution network. However, once the water is distributed to the private properties' areas*, whether the water quality is affected will depend on the maintenance and management of the buildings internal water supply system. In addition, there is a lack of laws and regulations governing the piping materials used in the buildings internal plumbing system as well as the sanitation of the water tanks. All these resulted to the common causes of "secondary water contamination" in buildings which can also bring adverse effects on people's health.
The indirect water supply system of high-rise buildings, including water pumps, sump and roof storage tanks, is essential to ensure that water is distributed to all the units on each floor. If the water tanks are not regularly cleaned and properly maintained, the water quality can be contaminated. In order to avoid the potential risks on the residents' health and to ensure the sanitation of the internal water supply, water tanks must be cleaned and tested regularly.
(This service includes water testing before and after water tank cleaning)
Through this service, it can diminish the chances of the potential secondary water contamination, and increase the citizens' awareness on the importance of regular cleaning, monitoring and maintenance of the water tanks of buildings. In general, it is highly recommended that the tank be cleaned at least twice a year to ensure a clean water tank.
Service Scope
Appointed by the customer, we would provide the cleaning of both the roof and sump tanks. Before cleaning, our staff would require to do a site inspection and to take measurements of the water tank. If required, the customer may be requested to repair the water tank damages such as connection pipe, valves, drainage pipe, outlet valve, inlet valve, water pump, ball valve, tank cover or ladder, etc.
According to the customer's requirement, such as water tank cleaning frequency, a quotation will be submitted to the customer. After confirmation and payment, then a date and time will be scheduled for cleaning of the water tank.
Before proceeding with the cleaning and sanitization of the tank, the appointed staff will firstly take a water sample from the roof tank, then proper bleaching agent would be used to clean and sterilize both the roof and sump tanks. After cleaning, one post water sample will be collected from the roof tank. Both samples taken will be sent to our Laboratory and Research Center for water testing. Four major parameters will be tested on the water samples, namely turbidity, residual chlorine, total coliform and total bacteria count.
After completion of water testing, official report and technical advice (if applicable) will be forwarded to the customers for their perusal.

By using this service, the customer can understand more about the water quality of the internal plumbing facilities inside the building and take appropriate measures for its improvement. Thus, helping to reduce the possibility of secondary water contamination.
Service Scope
Appointed by customer, we would test the water quality of roof or / and sump tanks of their buildings. As per request, our staff will take water samples from the water tanks before or / and after the tank cleaning according to standard procedures. These samples will be sent to our Laboratory and Research Center for water testing.
The major parameters of water quality testing include organoleptic, microbiological, physical-chemical and undesirable substance parameters. Four major parameters will be tested on the water samples, namely turbidity, residual chlorine, total coliform and total bacteria count.
After completion of water testing, official report and technical advice (if applicable) will be forwarded to the customers for their perusal.
