Maintenance of Internal Plumbing
To avoid unpleasant surprise with your water bill we recommend you to
- Take regular readings of your meter to make sure you do not have a leak.
- Regularly inspect your plumbing facilities and check the working condition of your tap and cistern.
Remember- Leakage on your internal supply system can be expensive and it is not environmentally friendly. You can lose at least 2m3 water per month if you let water running from the tap just drop by drop.
Water Saving
Outside:
Air-cooling and roof / sump water tanks require a regular maintenance check-up. Malfunctioning of any facilities related to the water tank may cost you a very expensive bill.
Kitchen and Laundry:
- Don't let water running when washing hand.
- Defrost food overnight in the refrigerator or use the defrost setting on your microwave instead of using water to defrost food.
- Don't use automatic dishwashers and clothes washers if you only need to wash few items.
Bathroom:
- If you notice that the toilet handle does not work properly or you hear the sound of water running in the toilet, call a professional plumber immediately.
- Turn off the tap while brushing your teeth, washing your face or shaving.
- Taking shower can save more water than taking a bath in bath tub but remember to turn off the tap while you soap up your hair or body.
- Avoid flushing the toilet unnecessarily. Dispose tissues, insects and other similar waste in the dustbin rather than into the toilet.
